What each WeedTreats box holds, how the build-your-own swaps work, and how a monthly rotation is packed from the Salt River kitchen.
Packages here are not tiers of the same thing. Each format answers a different situation: a housewarming where nobody knows the kitchen, a long weekend that needs shelf-stable snacks, an office thank-you that has to survive a courier, or a pantry shelf you restock on your own rhythm. Below is what changes between them, in practical terms.
New to the range? The batch date guide explains what the marks on each pouch mean before you commit to a format.
Six pouches across the core range: toasted hemp hearts, cacao-date bites, rooibos caramel brittle, a savoury seed cluster and two tisanes. Built for a first taste, sized for one or two people over a week.
Same items, packed for travel: brittle in its own pouch, cards tucked flat, box sealed for a courier. Suits housewarmings and office thank-yous where you will not be there to explain it.
Swap items for vegan, nut-free or lower-sugar needs. Some substitutions shift the weight and balance of a box, so we flag which ones change the feel rather than just the ingredient list.
Two new items each month alongside the staples, drawn from what the Western Cape growers and the Salt River kitchen have in season. You set the pace and can pause between runs.
Larger resealable pouches of hemp hearts, seed clusters and loose-leaf tisanes for people who already know what they want on the shelf. Batch dates and grower notes stay on every pouch.

A few definitions we would rather spell out than leave to interpretation. These apply to every box, subscription and build-your-own order that leaves the Salt River kitchen.
The date stamped on each pouch is the day the item was packed, not a shelf-life promise. Toasted hemp hearts and seed clusters hold their texture for roughly six to eight weeks unopened. Brittle and cacao-date bites are best within four weeks. Once a pouch is opened, move it to a cool cupboard and finish it within two weeks.
We buy from a short list of Western Cape growers, so a run depends on what is actually available. If a tisane blend or a specific seed is out of stock, we substitute a comparable item of equal weight and note it on the ingredient card rather than holding the whole box back.
You can swap items for vegan, nut-free or lower-sugar needs, but some pieces cannot be removed without unbalancing the box. The kitchen packs seed clusters and cacao-date bites in the same space, so we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment. Tell us the constraint and we will say plainly what is possible.
The monthly subscription rotates two new items in and two out each cycle. Everything else stays as your baseline. You can pause a cycle, skip a month or change your rotation before the cut-off, which falls on the Sunday before the packing week.
Ingredient cards list every component in plain language, including the grower where we have one. If something on a card is unclear, ask before you order and we will answer with the actual detail rather than a general note.
Most of these come up in emails from people ordering for a housewarming, a long weekend away or an office thank-you. Short answers below, and the kitchen is happy to go deeper if something is still unclear.
A starter box carries a mix of toasted hemp hearts, cacao-date bites, savoury seed clusters and a small pouch of loose-leaf tisane, plus one seasonal item depending on what the Western Cape growers have that month. Everything sits in resealable pouches with an ingredient card and a batch date, so you can taste through the range before committing to a rotation.
Yes. The build-your-own option lets you flag vegan, nut-free or low-sugar requirements, and the kitchen swaps items that move cleanly. A few pieces, like the rooibos caramel brittle, cannot be removed without unbalancing the box, so we will tell you honestly if a request is not a good fit rather than send something half-right.
Each month brings two new items alongside the staples you already liked. Runs stay small and seasonal, so a rotation might lean into citrus in winter and stone fruit in summer. You can pause or change your rotation whenever you like, and nothing ships until you confirm the month's selection.
Keep it sealed and out of direct sun. Toasted hemp hearts and seed clusters hold their crunch for a couple of weeks; the brittle is best eaten within a week of opening, especially in humid Cape Town weather. If a batch has gone soft, it works well crumbled over yoghurt or folded into a bake rather than eaten straight.
We work with a handful of Western Cape growers and pack in a kitchen in Salt River. Batch dates are written by hand because the runs are small enough to track that way. If you want to know which grower supplied a specific item, ask and we will tell you.
